Title: Promise Me Eternity
Writers : Ian Fox
Genre: Fiction; Mystery
My Rating: 3 on 5
Dr. Simon Patterson is a successful neurosurgeon who is researching an age-defying medicine. He is married but often ends up with fighting with his wife. He is a workaholic who wishes to make it big in the medical world and also make it rich by inventing a medicine which can stop ageing in humans. Simon’s life is going on as usual, until Christine enters his life. Christine is the wife of a well known criminal Carlos and is an epitome of beauty. Simon is naturally attracted to her against his wish and ends up having a clandestine affair with her. One thing leads to another and he finds himself behind bars, being accused of murder.
The book has a fast pace and the mystery begins with the word go. Simon’s character is interesting and his emotional tumult while having an affair is something we can identify with. Christine’s character could have been stronger considering the amount of importance she has in the book. There are some parallel stories taking place which I found more of a distraction than a necessity.
Language is easy and flows well. Some of the suspense scenes are very well written and capture the mood well. The book is a page turner and will be over before you know it. If you are looking for a quick read, pick up this book.
